Getting Started

Move around with the Zoom and Pan controls

The Zoom control to the left of the map image lets you zoom in or out in stages by clicking either on the
Map Zoom In Tool or Map Zoom Out Tool symbols to zoom in or out a step, or by clicking on one of the little 'pip' marks in between, to jump straight to that scale. One of these pips is always highlighted, indicating the approximate current scale that you are viewing at.
If you get lost, clicking on the pip mark just next to the zoom out Map Zoom Out Tool symbol will take you to England scale again.

To zoom in to a box area, hold down the key and click and drag with the mouse to define a box to zoom to.

The Compass control to the left of the map image re-centres the map in the direction of the arrows. The map will move half a map to the left, right, top, or bottom for each mouse click.

You can pan across the map with greater control by clicking on the map and dragging it to a new location.
