Using the Agri-environment Delivery on SSSIs Map
Downloading the SVG Viewer
A link is provided to the Adobe website to download the SVG viewer. On the download page,
scroll down and click on the link that matches the operating system of your computer (e.g. if you have Microsoft Windows,
select Win 98-XP). Save the installation file to your machine, then double-click to install the viewer.
On-screen instructions should guide you through the installation process.
This is a one-off download and you will only need to do this the first time you use the map.
If you have downloaded the viewer to view different SVG applications on other websites,
you should not need to download the viewer again.
Choosing to view data for Government Regions, National Character Areas, or Counties
Click on one of the buttons on either the Agri-environment Delivery on SSSIs introductory page, to launch the
map page showing one of the three map layers, or if you already have the
map page open you can click on a button there to change the map to one of the other two map layers not currently displayed.
Choosing a time period
Click on the "Financial year" drop-down list to display data from an individual financial year or change data between any
two of the years.
Selecting a feature from the map layer
There are two methods of selecting an individual feature, once you have chosen which map layer to display.
On the map page you can either choose from the drop-down list (features are listed in alphabetical order), or
you can select the feature (Region, County or National Character Area) by clicking on it on the map.
Hovering the mouse over the map will highlight each feature and display its name above.
If you then click on the feature on the map, it will stay highlighted (until you choose a different one),
and the table of information for it will be displayed.
Navigating around the map
If you have chosen to display NCAs you will see a zoom in button, zoom out button, and a zoom to England button.
There will also appear four small arrows around the outside of the map area that you can use to pan north, south, east or west.
Use these simple buttons to find your area of interest before selecting a NCA to display its tabular data.
Understanding the table of information
The agri-environment statistics are separate according to different scheme types, one on each row. Wildlife Enhancement Schemes (WES),
Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA), and Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) are the current options. The columns in the table
show the area in hectares covered by agreements within SSSIs ("Agreement Area (ha)"),
the total amount spent on these particular agreements ("Total Cost (£)") and the percentage of the area
covered by agreements that meets the PSA Target ie is in favourable or recovering condition ("% area meeting PSA Target").
