This map shows internationally important Special Protection Areas (SPAs), Special Areas of
Conservation (SACs) and Ramsar sites in England. At small scales these sites are shown as different
symbols, but at larger scales the symbols are replaced with the site boundaries. These boundaries
are labelled with the name of the site. International sites often coincide, so the map symbols
have been carefully selected so that you can see where the different types overlap.
If a site is a SAC, a SPA and a Ramsar site, the name of each designation will appear.
