The Sites Search Wizard allows you to find designated sites, BAP Priority
Habitat features and various other features that either overlap with, or lie
within a certain distance of, other features.
First use the Search tool to find the feature that you want to use as your
starting point, or central location. See Basic Searching and Advanced Searching.
On the Search results page, click the little radio button to select
"Using the Sites Search Wizard, find nature conservation sites and other
features near that feature".
Then click on a feature to select it from the search results. This will take
you to the Sites Search Wizard page.
If you have selected a place name or a postcode, you will then be asked to
choose a distance within which to search for features around that place or
postcode - either 10km, 20km, 30km, 40km or 50km.
If you have selected any other kind of feature, you will be searching for
features that overlap or are contained within the feature you have selected.
Next select from the list of map layers, those layers that you want to search
for features in. By default, all the designated sites are selected.
You can only choose up to five BAP Priority Habitat layers as these
can generate a long list of features.
When you select the Go button, the Sites Search tool will look for features
in the layers you have selected that match your search criteria, and return a
list of all those it finds. Each feature listed includes a link to view
it on the map.
