Frequently Asked Questions, hints and tips

Choosing the appropriate map size

Just above the map image on the left hand side is this control , that allows you to change to a bigger page, with a bigger map. When you click on this to use the bigger page, the control changes to enabling you to change back again to the (default) smaller page with its smaller map.

This is not about the scale of the map, it simply refers to the physical size (width and height, in centimetres) of your map image. Changing from one to the other will not alter the scale of the map, it will only affect the area of land that the map covers.

If you are using an ordinary 56k modem to access the internet and Nature on the Map, you will probably find the small map most suitable, because smaller map images are faster to download. If you have a broadband or other fast connection, you may well prefer the bigger map.
