Frequently Asked Questions, hints and tips
How recent is the information in the Maps?
You can see at a glance how recent the map data is by looking at the Data Updates page. As a supplement to this, and as a general guide:
- designated sites get updated approximately monthly, though in some months there are no changes to some of the designated site types, such as National Nature Reserves.
- Ordnance Survey map layers get updated only once or twice each year.
- Biodiversity Action Plan Priority Habitats will probably be updated annually with major revisions at least once every three years.
- The Priority Catchments were developed during 2003 and are likely to be upgraded, in light of new evidence and information, at some as yet unspecified time.
- Information relating to the list of designated sites at risk from diffuse agricultural pollution can be found through consultation of English Nature Research Report 551
(http://www.english-nature.org.uk/pubs/publication/PDF/551.pdf).
- The Farmland Bird data sets were developed during 2003 and are likely to be upgraded on either an annual or biannual basis.
