Using this facility you can:
- Find out how much SSSI area is in each agri-environment agreement type
- Discover how much agri-environment money is being spent, and where
- See how agri-environment money is contributing to the PSA target
Agri-environment agreements (Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA), Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS)
and Wildlife Enhancement Scheme (WES)) were entered into between English Nature or Defra's Rural Development Service
(now joined within Natural England)
and individual landowners. They were designed to deliver various environmental benefits, and this facility shows
the contribution those schemes have made to improving the condition of SSSIs. The results of the analysis
are used to inform and steer the efforts to meet the Government PSA Target to bring 95% (by area) of SSSIs into favourable or
recovering condition by 2010.
